About

Curling Pilipinas is the national sports association (NSA) of Philippine curling. The organization oversees the athletes who compete internationally in the sport and hopes to foster the growth of the sport among Filipinos around the world.
Through collaborations and partnerships, we secure resources and create accessible venues for training and competitions. Our efforts aim to popularize curling, encourage sportsmanship, and build national pride among our members and supporters.
After more than a decade in the making, the World Curling Federation gave the Philippines provisional membership to compete on the world level in 2023.
Here’s where you can find more information about our organization and answers to some frequently asked questions!
Absolutely not! We have multiple tiers of membership: One for those who just want to support Curling Pilipinas as fans, one for recreational curlers, and one for those who wish to be part of our high performance pool of national curlers.
It’s as simple as filling out the membership form and paying your dues!
Membership is good for one year, running from July to July of the following year. A curling season generally starts in August or September and runs until May or June, so our membership coincides with the season. We do not pro-rate membership, so the rate is the same no matter what time of year you join. Members start getting notices to renew membership in June, with dues generally due by the end of July.
You only need to be a Philippine citizen or national if you wish to represent the country in international play. It’s not a condition of membership or participating in any of our events.
The rules for national eligibility for sport are not necessarily the same as those for Philippine citizenship. Holding a Philippine passport is obviously the easiest way to qualify. But you may also be eligible for dual citizenship if one of the following applies to you:
- Your parents (or one parent) were still Philippine citizens when you were born.
- You have a grandparent or parent who holds a Philippine passport or is a dual citizen.
- You were previously a Philippine citizen (for example, your family immigrated when you were a child). Even if you have a different passport now, you may by eligible to re-acquire Philippine citizenship.
- You are married to a Philippine citizen.
If you think you might be eligible, get in touch with us and we can help you determine your eligibility. If you qualify, we can also help you with the process of getting the proper paperwork.
You can read about our national selection process for both Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines.
Currently, we send national teams to the following World Curling-sanctioned international events:
- Pan Continental Curling Championships A and B Division (men’s and women’s four-person teams)
- World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship – B Event
- World Senior Curling Championship (men’s senior team)
- World Junior Curling Championship (junior men’s)
- World Mixed Curling Championship (mixed four-person team)
Curling is not a cheap pursuit! While we get a small amount of support from the Philippine Sports Commission, it mostly goes to funding high-performance athletes competing in the Olympic disciplines (men’s and women’s four-person teams and mixed doubles). Our membership is so much more than just high-performance athletes and we would like to provide programming for curlers of all levels, and hold events to attract new curlers. We try to support athletes who compete at World Championship events in the non-Olympic disciplines, at the junior and senior level, and regional events. We also occasionally need to hold national championships for certain disciplines and hold camps and training events and open houses at clubs in various cities. All of this adds up and we appreciate our members’ support!
Absolutely! We have a donation form and appreciate your support. For our U.S. friends, please note that we are not a nonprofit organization, so your donation is not tax-deductible.
We would love to work with partners and sponsors, whether you’re interested in sponsoring one of our teams, partnering with us on an event, or doing business with us in some other way. Reach out to us on our contact form.
All our shirts, hoodies, and hats are hand-pressed on demand by a small shop in Los Angeles. It can occasionally take time to order stock, especially larger-sized items. We appreciate your patience and ask that you allow up to two weeks for your items to be made.
We have a newsletter and would love it if you subscribed. We’re also on Instagram and Facebook.
